Encore Construction Raises Money for Local Charity

May 11, 2010, SUDBURY, MA — Encore Construction hosted an event for approximately 40 people at their remodeling showroom to benefit a local charity. Approximately $500 was raised for HOPEsudbury Community Assistant Fund, a unique outreach project dedicated to engaging the people of Sudbury in providing humanitarian aid to people in need at home and abroad. Supported entirely by private donations, the group operates independently from the Town of Sudbury and does not receive public funds or tax revenues.

The event themed “Color, Cupcakes and Hope” featured Interior Designer Barbara Goldman, recently on NECN’s New England Dream House and in The Boston Design Magazine, and pastry chef and Sudbury resident Carmen Quintus-Bosz.

Ms. Goldman introduced six categories of paint and decorating trends that suit traditional, transitional and modern décors – Urban Decay, Industrial, Aquatic, Fresh Optimistic, Glitz and Glamour, and Tribal and Rooted. The common thread throughout her presentation was ‘buy what you love and decorate around it ... and don’t buy matching pieces!’

Guests munched on delectable cookies and decadently decorated cupcakes baked by Ms. Quintus-Bosz, while she demonstrated various decorating techniques. Guests had fun adding their own creations to featured cupcakes – Raspberry Velvet with Cream Cheese Buttercream, Vanilla with Swiss Meringue Buttercream and Chocolate with Chocolate Ganache. These recipes can be downloaded free from Encore at www.encoreco.com. Ms. Quintus-Bosz also designed cookies as Spanish tiles and two lucky raffle winners each took home a box.
