Encore Construction Receives Prestigious CotY Award – December 2004

Region’s Top Remodeling Honors, CotY Award, Goes to Encore Construction Company of Dennisport as EM NARI Announces Contractor of the Year Award Recipients

Dennisport, MA —The Eastern Massachusetts chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (EM NARI) at its recently held “Evening of Excellence,” announced the winners in its annual EM-CotY Awards. The prestigious CotY Awards are designed to recognize the most exceptional remodeling projects and the companies that built them.

The top honors, a Gold Award, in the category of Residential Addition over $250,000 went to Encore Construction Company of Dennisport.

Roger Gallagher, EM-NARI’s President, captured the significance of the Awards in saying “This year’s CotY Award winners have demonstrated the highest level of design innovation, construction craftsmanship, and business professionalism. These outstanding companies have delivered exceptional results for their clients while tackling challenging projects that deserve the recognition of the remodeling community.”

The award to Encore Construction Company was for a remodeling project, designed by Barnstable Architect, Geoffrey Koper, involving a high-end kitchen, dining/living area, a master bedroom suite and a study along with a 2-car garage. The existing garage, bedroom and kitchen of the ranch style house were demolished and a 1200 square foot addition was constructed in their place.

To create the look the owner wanted, vaulted ceilings were constructed in the kitchen and in the dining/ living area in conjunction with half round ceilings over the kitchen window and over the fireplace. A gable end of the addition was cantilevered over a curved wall of French doors. The structure required the erection of a steel superstructure to carry the roof loads. This structure was then integrated into the wood frame. New windows, siding, roofing, and interior trim were provided.
